There are two umpires. The first is the batting umpire, who must have a clear view at all times of the batting square and the first post without having to turn their head. The second official is the bowler’s umpire. They may consult each other, and their decisions on the state of play are final. After the first inning is complete, the two umpires swap positions on the pitch in the interest of fairness.
