Scoring

Sport: Badminton

Only the player or team serving can score a point. Women’s singles games are normally scored to 11; men’s singles and doubles games to 15. If a women’s singles game is tied at 9-9 or 10-10, the side that reaches that score first may “set” the game. When a game is set, the score is known as “love-all” and it is the first player to reach either two or three points (as agreed) who wins. If the game is not set, then the winner is the first player to reach 11 (women’s) or 15 (men’s and doubles) points. Matches are normally decided by the best of three games.
