Horse vault

(Sport: Women's Gymnastics)


The vaulting horse is 4ft high, 5.3ft long and 14in wide. It is made out of wood on a metal frame, and has a very thin layer of padding, which is covered with leather or vinyl. The springboard placed in line with the short axis of the horse. The gymnast runs down a runway releasing both feet off the springboard, and vaults crosswise over the horse. Gymnasts get one attempt in compulsories and two attempts in optionals.
