Side

(Sport: Snooker)

Definition

When a player strikes the ball to the left or right of the center of the cue ball to apply spin on one side or the other. This is vital for a player in positional play. Side applied to the right of the cue ball will make the ball spin counter cloxkwise, and therefore curve slightly to the left and shoot off the cushion when it strikes it.
