Kickoff

(Sport: Rugby Union)

Definition

Always taken from the centre of the pitch. Used to start the game or restart after halftime or when a try has been scored. Once the kick has been taken, the ball must reach the opposing team's 11yd line. If this does not occur, then the kick is either taken again or a scrum is formed on the halfway line.
