Definition

The Highland Games have a long and proud history. Played mostly in Scotland, competitors in the heavy events compete in the traditional costume of kilt and sporran. The games are made up of athletic events, including the triple jump, the high jump and pole vault. The heavy events include putting the shot, throwing the weight, throwing the weight over the bar, throwing the hammer and tossing the caber. There are also cycling, wrestling and tug-o' - war events.
