Dead ball

Definition

Called by the umpire if he feels that the batsman is not ready to face the bowler, in the case of a serious injury to a player, or if the bowler drops the ball in the process of a delivery. No runs can be scored from a dead ball, and the bowler has delivered the ball, it is not included in the over count.
